When selecting the appropriate decking boards, the volume of traffic a board receives, plays a minor role. For high wearing or commercial traffic, a hardwood board generally wears better as it is more dense and will mark less than a softwood e.g.: treated pine. Hardwood species are all given a durability rating, which assesses their ability to withstand rot and decay, durable and class four least durable.

At Dial A Deck we only install class 1 & 2 hardwood boards, as these are the most durable, for external use.

For domestic purposes, treated pine offers a more economical termite resistant alternative, which can be stained to many fashionable colours.
